Roman Catholic Parish of Vlachovo Březí
The church was formerly named the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary.
The Roman Catholic parish of Vlachovo Březí is located near Prachatice. The central point of the town square is the Church of the Annunciation, whose yellow façade brings positive energy to the otherwise grey square. The history of the parish church dates back to the 14th century, when the original church was smaller and built in Romanesque style. The current Baroque appearance was acquired between 1659 and 1969.
Since 1702, the parish has housed a very rare painting of the Holy Spirit Madonna, which was donated by the monk Faltýn. A wooden chapel was built on the hill where he rested with the painting. Today, the Church of the Holy Spirit stands on that spot above Vlachovo Březí. In 1851, a Stations of the Cross was added to the church.
