Dub Castle near Prachatice

The first written mention of Dub dates back to 1274.

The village of Dub, with its newly restored castle on the site of an older fortress, lies about 10 km north of Prachatice.
The dominant castle building stands in a small park enclosed by a neo-Gothic wall, right next to the village square.

The current owners are restoring the entire complex, which was in a terrible state after 1989 when it was still state property, and they are happy to welcome visitors anytime.
Entry is possible when the owners are present – either through a small, inconspicuous door directly from the village square near the grocery store, or by walking around the grounds to the right along the road toward Dubská Lhota and Strunkovice, using the large wrought-iron gate.
The castle is open year-round during the owners’ presence, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
