Kubova Huť Railway Station
The highest railway station in the Czech Republic.
The first mention of the village of Kubova Huť dates back to 1728, when Johann Podschneider founded a glassworks here. The village was named after the manor steward Guba, giving rise to the name Kubova Huť. In 1899, the highest railway station in the Czech Republic was built here. The railway line connecting the towns of Vimperk and Volary was completed in 1899 and lies at an altitude of 995 meters above sea level.
The village features several historical buildings, such as the houses "U Kubešů" and "U Götzů", which are examples of traditional Šumava architecture. In the center of the village stands a typical Schwarzenberg hunting lodge from 1908.
