Kadovský Rocking Stone

Kadovský Rocking Stone

One of the largest and best-preserved granite rocking stones in the Czech Republic.

The Kadovský Rocking Stone is located in a small park next to the municipal office in the village of Kadov. Nearby is the educational trail “Around the Kadovský Rocking Stone.” The stone itself is one of 13 stops on the approximately 6 km long trail.

The oldest records of the Kadovský Rocking Stone date back to 1856. The boulder, which measures more than 11 meters in circumference, attracted attention not only from scientists but also from stonemasons who carved grooves into it to insert wedges with the intent to break the stone. Thanks to the district office’s intervention, their plans were thwarted, and the rocking stone has been preserved to this day.
