Church of St. John the Baptist – Paštiky

Church of St. John the Baptist – Paštiky

The Baroque church in Paštiky is a dominant landmark of the Blatná countryside.

The Church of St. John the Baptist in Paštiky was built according to the plans of K. L. Diezenhofer. It is considered one of the most valuable examples of rural Baroque church architecture in Bohemia.

A cemetery surrounds the church, and beneath the cemetery chapel lies a crypt that serves as the burial site of the Hildprandt family.

The church is administered by the Roman Catholic Parish of Blatná.

The church is not open for regular visits. It opens occasionally during the year – on the pilgrimage day, for special masses (e.g., All Souls’ Day), or during Advent concerts.

The exterior of the church is currently undergoing gradual restoration. The interior is beautifully restored.

Two pilgrimage trails pass through Paštiky – the Vintíř Trail and the Via-Nova.
