Tábor – Měšice Chateau

Tábor – Měšice Chateau

The chateau is the dominant landmark of the Měšice district, originally the site of a village founded in 1296 by Zdislav of Měšice.

What led to the bricking up of the maid Anna, and how is her fate connected to the chapel bearing her name on the nearby hill? Where did the famous Empress Sisi go to the toilet in the chateau? These and many other stories await you at Měšice Chateau.

During your tour, the owners will share insights into modern life, living, and working in the chateau. You’ll see themed exhibitions on Konrad Adenauer, August 21, 1968, or John F. Kennedy. Not to be missed are unique furniture items belonging to historical figures: the dining table and sofa of Reinhard Heydrich, Clementine Churchill’s furniture, Art Nouveau beds after Jan Masaryk, and more.

The ambiance is completed by a 350-year-old linden tree in front of the southern facade. Every May, the Měšice International Celebrations take place beneath it.

Tours for educational, research, or journalistic purposes are provided free of charge.
