Milevsko Museum
A unique place where history, tradition, and the present come together. It welcomes you in the second courtyard of the Milevsko Monastery.
The archaeological exhibition tells the story of the town and its surroundings and houses finds dating back to prehistoric times. You'll also find a 17th-century tower clock reminding of the town's right of execution, a 20-pound American bomb that fell on Milevsko station in April 1945 and was the only one that didn’t explode, and children can even try what it feels like to be a real archaeologist.
But that’s not all – let's head to the next floor. Here, gentlemen will enjoy the Military Hall with a 15th-century war axe, a collection of 19th-century cold weapons, and a battlefield model of the clash between Prussian and Hungarian hussars in 1744. Ladies can visit Grandma’s Parlour to see an American laundry wringer, women’s underwear from a century ago, or a traditional Kozácko folk costume. And children haven’t been forgotten – the Puppet Salon will fascinate them with colorful lighting effects and puppets from across the region.
Still eager to explore more? Head up to the second floor, where you'll find an exhibition hall with paintings and historical items.
