Soldier Švejk came to Budějovice by train and the railway in the regional town literally wrote history. In the more than 100 years since then, the train connections have undergone a huge development, so you don't have to worry that you will end up travelling to Budějce from Tábor on foot. Unless you don't want to.
The new railway corridor between Prague and České Budějovice has sped up this connection to 98 minutes, during which time you can chat with friends, work, or just take a nap. You can find electric connections on the trains, carry bicycles, or choose a compartment for women travelling alone. The South Express also includes a dining car, making it the most comfortable and fastest option.
From České Budějovice, trains continue on to Linz and Vienna in Austria, so it's easy to plan a proper train adventure.
For information about ČD connections, see the Czech Railways website HERE for more train connections, including combinations with buses and public transport, see the IDOS timetables.
