How do you get to the start
This is a circular route. By car, head towards Val, Hamr (parking is available in the northern part of the sandpits, where the trail starts and ends). The route is also accessible by bicycle.
Route description
Located in the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve, the Veselské Pískovny cover an area of 240 hectares between the town of Veselí nad Lužnicí and the villages of Horusice and Vlkov. The five gravel lakes were created by gravel and sand extraction between 1952 and 1986.
The sandpits are about 2 km south of Veselí nad Lužnicí and can be reached on foot via the yellow-marked tourist trail. The Veselské Pískovny Educational Trail is an 8 km circular route with 14 information panels.
