By Bike or on Foot along the Sedláček Trail

The Sedláček Trail from Písek to Zvíkov and back measures 50 km, but it can be shortened or modified as needed.

Route:
PÍSEK – U SULANA – GAS FOOTBRIDGE – BOREČNICE – VRÁŽ – JISTEC – VARVAŽOV – ZBONÍN – ZVÍKOVSKÉ PODHRADÍ (Zvíkov Castle) – SVATÁ ANNA – OSLOV – TUKLEKY – SPOLÍ – LOUKA – DRŽOV – U CAISŮ – PÍSEK

The Sedláčkova cycling trail is now part of the main Otava Cycling Route. It starts in Písek and leads through U Sulana, a popular garden restaurant, across the gas footbridge near the Doupata forester’s lodge. From there, you can take the blue KČT-marked trail to see the confluence of the Lomnice and Otava rivers.

Warning when approaching Varvažov! At the foot of the hill, there is a heavily trafficked road (II/121), which must be crossed to continue to Zvíkovské Podhradí. However, you can carefully cross the road and take the old Baroque bridge over the Skalice River into the village of Varvažov. From there, the trail leads to the king of Czech castles – Zvíkov.

Tip: If the stairs on the gas footbridge are an issue, take Route CT1158, which runs between Písek and Borečnice along road III/02024 via Topělec.

The trail is also easily accessible for hikers, and a bike bus runs on weekends during the season for return or one-way trips:
