A Knightly Trip to Cuknštejn

Cuknštejn Fortress is located in the westernmost part of Terčino Valley, near the town of Nové Hrady.

It is an almost completely preserved late Gothic fortress dating back to the end of the 15th century. It is privately owned. During the summer months, concerts are held there. The fortress was the filming location for the movie “Long Live the Knights” directed by Karel Janák.

The brief plot of the film is as follows: Martin of Vamberk must leave for war against the Saracens on the king’s orders, entrusting the defense of his fortress to his eldest son Petr. Petr is not popular with his siblings, who do not intend to make his new role easy. However, no one suspects that the treacherous neighbor Albrecht of Krvenos has his sights set on their estate.

The film starred: Pavel Kříž (Albrecht of Krvenos), David Prachař (Martin of Vamberk), Danny Messáros (Petr), Ivana Korálová (Tereza), Jan Komínek (Vítek), Štěpán Krtička (Michal), Andrea Žádníková (Kateřina), Tereza Voříšková (Jana), Lenka Robotová (the Queen), and others.
