Educational Trail of Trhové Sviny
The Educational Trail of Trhové Sviny is 4.5 kilometers long and is an easy walking trail that guides tourists through the immediate surroundings of Trhové Sviny and the town itself.
Hikers visit a total of 12 stops, including the Bušek Hammer Mill and the Pilgrimage Church of the Holy Trinity. At each location, they can learn many interesting facts from information panels and a printed guide.
Trhové Sviny and its surroundings are also associated with the filming of the movie Don’t Call Me Major from 1981. The film’s plot was characteristic of its time, which is clear from the following brief synopsis.
A young man, Láďa Zeman, and his friend Martin follow a man named Diesbach. They are bravely helped by Zuzka, the hotelier’s daughter. The boys even follow him on a borrowed moped, but soon realize it’s no match for a car. Zuzka even lets them into Diesbach’s room, where Martin inspects the pigeons—because it’s mainly about those. Diesbach is showing different pigeons at an exhibition than the ones he is transporting across the border.
