Cycling through the Highlights of Bohemian Canada

This route from Jindřichův Hradec to Nová Bystřice takes you along less-traveled roads, connecting the most interesting sights of Bohemian Canada in just under 70 km. The trail starts and ends at the train station. It leads through beautiful countryside, past ponds and scenic landscapes perfect for relaxing breaks.

The first highlight is Kačležský Pond. At a nearby crossroads, you can continue to Zvůle or take a short detour past Vysoký kámen, the highest peak of Bohemian Canada, to Kaproun station. Here, your journey could end with a train ride back. But if you go on, the next stop is Zvůle – a popular place for swimming and peaceful walks by the pond, surrounded by forests hiding curious rock formations.

Another stop is the U Jakuba lookout tower, reached via a steep climb – but the view is worth the effort. From here, the route heads into the "true" Canada – to Rožnov, where a bison enclosure awaits. Try a steak at the local restaurant.

After your meal, continue to Landštejn Castle – the region’s landmark. The ride from Landštejn to Nová Bystřice is more relaxed. On the way, history lovers can visit the Klášter fortress area with its fascinating exhibit, or stop at the nearby Holy Trinity Monastery, accessible by prior arrangement.

In Nová Bystřice, visit the Veteran Car Museum in a former textile factory – you won’t regret it. Return to Jindřichův Hradec by narrow-gauge train for a memorable end to your trip.
