Educational Trail through the Černá Valley
The educational trail along the Černá stream takes visitors to the regions of Benešov, Besednice, and Kaplice.
In 2022, the trail was fully renovated through the joint efforts of the Novohradsko-Doudlebsko Destination Association, CEGV Cassiopeia, and the municipalities of Benešov nad Černou, Soběnov, and the town of Kaplice.
There are 9 stations highlighting the natural features and local use of the picturesque stream’s surroundings:
- Soběnov Reservoir
- Černá Stream and a Little Secret
- Valley Formation, Rocks and Stones
- U Dubu Mill
- Forests (Not Only) in the Černá Valley
- Timber Rafting on the Černá and Its Tributaries
- Microclimate of the Valley and Alpine Plants
- Animals in the River
- Hydroelectric Power Plant
To reach stations 2) and 3), you need to cross the Černá stream on large flat stones to its right bank, where you can not only admire the Sokolčí rock massif but also visit the ruins of the castle of the same name on its top.

To continue along the trail, you must return to the left bank of the river the same way.
