The Story of the Iron Curtain
THE STORY OF THE IRON CURTAIN is the name of a new educational route created between Nové Hrady and the settlement of Šejby near Horní Stropnice.
As the name suggests, the trail relates to the recent history of the Czech-Austrian border region. The story of the Iron Curtain is told through 12 information boards, which, however, do not contain a standard text but rather a QR code. When scanned on a mobile phone, the QR code links to a short video of about 90 seconds, dedicated to the Iron Curtain and the stories of people whose lives were changed by this barrier.
The route starts at the Iron Curtain Open-Air Museum at the Nové Hrady – Pyhrabruck border crossing and returns after about 17 kilometers to the bus station in Nové Hrady. The trail can be completed by bicycle or, of course, on foot.
