through three marked circuits.
At almost all places marked on the map, you will find information either on information panels or on signs with QR codes, which you can read if you have the necessary application installed on your mobile phone! A bilingual – Czech and German – accompanying brochure with a description of the places visited has been published for all three thematic areas. It is available at the municipal office and in Info Centres throughout the Novohradsko-Doudlebsko region.
Due to the mileage and varied surface, it is best to ride the circuits on a trekking or mountain bike, however, it is a challenge for trained people to complete at least the first two on foot.

Route description
Red Circle
The shortest circuit (9 km) and with the lowest elevation (47 m) will take you east of Dolní Dvořiště, mainly past church buildings.
The original village of Český Rychnov, now Rychnov nad Malší , was established at the crossroads of trade routes. The lower part of the fork-shaped village square is dominated by the Gothic building of the church of St. Andrew. From Rychnov to Svatý Kamen, a 1.5 km long section is lined with Baroque chapels of the Seven Sorrows Way of the Virgin Mary . In 2006, students of the SUPŠ St. Agnes of Bohemia in Český Krumlov created large-scale paintings on canvas covered with a wooden board using the classic technique of layered oil painting, which fill the interiors of the chapels. Probably the most famous monument in the area is the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of the Snows on Svatý Kamen with the legend of a cracked boulder and the end of the world. However, they are no less interested in the complicated history of the place, which until 1989 was in the border zone.
Green Circle
On the 13 km leading west and south from the village, with an elevation of 96 m, you will be introduced to the history of the railway. Before you find yourself above Dolní Dvořiště in a place from which you can overlook the village and the Novohradské Mountains rising behind it, stop at the dominant feature of the village - the Gothic church of St. Giles . Before Trojany you will pass by stone pillars on which the wooden bridge of the unique horse-drawn railway stood . The tracks of the modern line will take you to Rybník . Opposite the railway station building , its history is mapped, including the failed local railway. To get to know the horse-drawn carriage better, you can drive 3.5 km to the Horse Railway Nature Trail , which introduces you to the terrain and the structural elements of the railway preserved from the 18th century. Not far from the turnoff to it is a monument to the shot member of the financial guard František Hovorek. Before returning, you will pass through the largest and busiest road crossing in South Bohemia.
Yellow circle
The longest, 26 km long circuit with 110 m elevation gain. Thematically, it is focused primarily on the border area, which, after the eviction of the German population and subsequently during the Iron Curtain, found itself in a zone designated for the liquidation of human settlements and entry only with permission.
We expect to restore the footbridge over the Malše River east of the border crossing in 2022. The former "signal" leads to the Horní Malše Nature Reserve , declared for the protection of endangered animals.
From the monument to the shot member of the financial guard Václav Klimeš near the former settlement of Lhota, the route leads to the iconic Cetvin. In the village, where more than a hundred houses were shot down in the 1950s, you can read not only about the fate of the place, but also about other extinct settlements in the vicinity and the local Border Guard garrison. After Janová Ves and Horní Tichá, you cannot miss a stop at the reconstructed area of the fortress in Tichá , dated 1280.
