Route description

From the Klostermann statue, you ascend to the Chapel of St. Anthony, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the wide landscape below the Šumava, with the Brdy hills on the horizon. From there, follow a forest path (with caution) downhill to the road leading from Javorník into the valley. A brisk descent follows to Tejmlov. Before the first hairpin turn, turn right onto an asphalt road and climb it up to the forest near Krásná vyhlídka (Beautiful View). To reach Krásná vyhlídka itself, turn right at the forest edge onto the red-marked hiking trail – the viewpoint is about 100 metres away.

After fully enjoying the “beautiful” view of central Šumava, return to the forest and continue towards the solitary settlement Krankoty. Take the forest path downhill to the Kohoutí kříž (Rooster Cross) above Nicov, and from there, follow a field path into Nicov. Cross the road Stachy–Kašperské Hory and begin climbing to the quiet settlement Studenec. From there, descend into the picturesque hamlet Chalupy, then continue through the forest along a little-used narrow asphalt road to the Kohoutí kříž in the village of Úbislav. Proceed in the direction of Benešova Hora, where, at the entrance to the village, you turn sharply left and begin to climb between houses and later through the forest back to Javorník. After exiting the forest, you arrive at the upper end of Bošice, and from there, it’s just the final 1,200 metres back to Javorník.
