From the royal town of Písek, head north into the region associated with the painter Mikoláš Aleš. Ride through charming villages and along scenic country roads to the town of Mirovice on the Skalice River, with its impressive plague column and the Church of St. Clement. Continue past the Lety memorial to the village of Orlík nad Vltavou, where the Orlík Castle stands above the Vltava River. On the way back along the left bank of the Vltava and then the Otava, you can make a detour to the medieval Zvíkov Castle and then return to Písek.
