From Jindřichův Hradec, with its Renaissance castle on the shore of Vajgar Pond, you head upstream along the Nežárka River via Jarošov nad Nežárkou to Počátky, where you can climb the lookout tower of the Church of St. John the Baptist. In the town of Žirovnice, don’t miss the local chateau, and in Kamenice nad Lipou visit the castle museum, the local brewery, or the Way of the Cross at the edge of town. In the village of Deštná, you’ll find not one, but two museums: an aviation museum and a rope-making museum.
