EV 13 – Stage 4: From Sandl to České Velenice
EuroVelo 13 is the most unique themed route among all long-distance trails in the South Bohemian Region. It runs partly through Bavaria and Austria and partly on the Czech side. The theme of this cycling route is the so-called former “Iron Curtain”, which divided Europe for more than 40 years and is just a fragment of the more than 10,000 km long cycling route from Nordkapp to the Aegean Sea. Along its route, you will encounter many reminders of this troubled history – small museums set in nature displaying remains and artefacts from the time, as well as relics from the interwar period. This stage is approximately 347 km long, moderately demanding and suitable for trekking bikes.
