OCC – Stage 2: From Horažďovice to Písek
The Otava Cycle Route is a long-distance trail starting just beyond the South Bohemian border, in the Plzeň Region. It actually begins even before the Otava River itself, which is formed by the confluence of the Vydra and Křemelná rivers further north. After weaving through the deep forests of the Bohemian Forest, you enter the charming foothills. Except for a few sections in the Šumava, the route is not very hilly. The surface varies, but the trail is overall very rideable. Along the way, you'll encounter many historical landmarks, and the route ends with a reward: the impressive Zvíkov Castle at the confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers. The total distance is about 137 km. The route starts moderately difficult, becoming easier and is suitable for trekking bikes.
