OCC – Stage 3: From Písek to Zvíkovské Podhradí

The Otava Cycle Route is a long-distance trail that technically begins just outside the South Bohemian Region, in the Plzeň Region. In fact, it starts slightly earlier than the Otava River itself, which is formed by the confluence of the Vydra and Křemelná rivers further north. After weaving through the forests of the Bohemian Forest, you reach the charming foothills. The route is mostly flat, with just a few hilly sections in the Bohemian Forest. The surface varies but remains well rideable throughout. Along the way, you'll encounter many historic landmarks, and at the end awaits the reward of the impressive Zvíkov Castle at the confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers. The total length is approximately 137 km. The route is initially moderately difficult, then easy, and suitable for trekking bikes.
