Golden Trail (Blanice) – Stage 2: From Prachatice to Putim

The Golden Trail cycling route along the Blanice River begins right at the Bavarian border and especially in the Šumava section, it attempts to follow the line of the former “Golden Trail”, specifically its most famous “Prachatice branch”, which was historically used by pack animals to carry salt into the Kingdom of Bohemia. This is a very diverse route, and without exaggeration, you’ll experience everything South Bohemia has to offer over these two stages – deep Šumava forests and highlands, countryside paths through groves, Renaissance Prachatice, the historic ponds of the Vodňany system, and the gold-bearing Blanice stream joining the Otava River.

Total length: approx. 93 km
Mostly suitable for trekking bikes, though there are two very natural sections between Volary and Prachatice where you might need to push the bike a bit – but the scenery is well worth it!
