Němec Pond

This pond is often compared to mountain lakes for its romantic atmosphere. It features a small island accessible by a footbridge. Archaeological findings have confirmed that the island was once the site of a 15th-century fortified settlement. Above the pond rises the hill Němec, 587 m above sea level. The pond also appears in literature – Jaromír Borecký wrote the poem Pond in the Forest, and Adolf Heyduk Pond below Němec.

U Vodáka Ponds

These ponds lie above the town in a valley bounded by the hill Logry and the area known as Amerika.

Provazce

The peak of Provazce (611 m above sea level) is in the northern part of the Písek Mountains. On its slopes you can still see so-called Wolf Pits. Though the name suggests they were used to trap wolves, they are actually old limestone quarries.

V Obouch Nature Monument

This protected area forms a nesting habitat for many bird species. It also supports a permanent population of Eurasian otters.

Havírky

The name “Písek Mountains” originates from historical mining activity, which was extensive in the early Middle Ages. Gold and silver mining in the area dates back to 1336. The greatest boom occurred in the 15th and 16th centuries, when gold-bearing quartz veins were discovered in Havírky.

Mehelník

Velký Mehelník is the highest peak of the Písek Mountains, rising to 633 m. It is shrouded in many legends and folk tales.

U Dobré Vody Spring

One of the most bountiful springs in the Písek forests rises near the crossroads called “In the Heart”. This magical spring, considered healing by many, flows from the depths of the Písek Mountains all year round. It never dries out, even during hot and dry summers. Many locals regularly come here for its truly high-quality drinking water.
