Route description

On the route you will pass through the village monument reserve of Plástovice and the village monument zone of Zbudov. Within the circuit, you will learn about local history and other interesting facts on four information boards (in Zbudov, Plástovice, Pašice and at the monument to Jakub Kubata). The word "blata" in Bohemia means swamps, peat bogs, marshes or wetlands. Svobodná Blata, also called Zbudovská, Hlubocká or Vladislavská, is a historical area in the former Hlubocká estate, extending between Netolice and Hluboká nad Vltavou. In the Middle Ages, this region was changed by the establishment of ponds and drainage, which, however, did not take away from its charm and rawness. There were nine historical Blata villages.

Interesting places on the route

Plástovice - The village monument reserve is one of the nine historical Blatky villages and at the same time the most valuable and best known in Blaty. A direct symbol of South Bohemian rural baroque is the uniquely preserved Plástovice blacksmith shop in the southern part of the village. Plástovice is the main setting of the famous novel by Karel Klostermann, Mist on Blaty, which was also filmed in 1943. In the upper part of the village square, in the farmhouse no. 9, there is an information center.

Wetlands near Vomáčků - The nature reserve near Zlivský pond has an area of about 61 ha. It is an example of the original wetlands.

Monument to the executed Jakub Kubata - The monument from 1904 stands by the Soudný stream. On the other bank of the stream there are two stones that are associated with Kubata's execution. Kubata was allegedly executed on the first stone, and according to legend, his head rolled off the second, which is 220 meters away from the first.

Zbudov - It is a local part of the village of Dívčice. It is located on the bank of the Zbudovské pond and gave its name to the entire historical area of the so-called Zbudovské blat, which consists of nine Blat villages. Zbudov has been a village monument zone since 1990. Farmhouse No. 1 with the Blat shield on the corner of the village square belonged to the Kubat family.

Refreshments on the route - Additional sales at the information center in Plástovice, Restaurant in nearby Sedlec (1.5 km). Restaurant in nearby Olešník. Summer swimming pool with refreshments in nearby Olešník.
