Míša Tomešová

The renowned Czech actress and singer Míša Tomešová visited us with her sons Kristián and Jonáš, along with her friend and her two daughters. According to her, South Bohemia is forever close to her heart and associated with complete relaxation and a wealth of experiences. Every summer, she travels to a village near Jindřichův Hradec to visit relatives, and through the 6x5 project, she discovered new places… and how did she like her time with us? Something like this… “Why travel to the other side of the planet when South Bohemia has everything one could wish for.” You can see South Bohemia through Míša’s eyes here.

Day 1 and 2

On the first day, Míša, her friend, and the kids checked into the new apartment at Residence Mariánská, so they could head out the next morning to the land of double skies (yes, Třeboňsko). There, they visited the House of Štěpánka Netolického, featuring an interactive exhibition on fishpond management and an exhibition… and into swimsuits! They had lunch at the Šupina and Šupinka restaurant, took a ride on the Třeboňáček train, and ended the day with a visit to Třeboň 105, which had an exhibition by Eliška Podzimková. If there was still some time left, they would have also visited the House of Nature of Třeboňsko, which we highly recommend! :) Want a one-day program in Třeboň too? You shall have it...

Day 3

On the third day, the girls and the kids took a boat from Hluboká nad Vltavou across Munický Pond to the Hluboká Zoo, where they fed the meerkats together and had lunch at the local restaurant. They also peeked into the Museum of Forestry, Hunting, and Fishing at Ohrada Castle and had fun at the Sports and Relaxation Center in Hluboká. For dinner, they all enjoyed a meal at Žlutá ponorka in České Budějovice. We have a one-day trip suggestion for Hluboká here.

Day 4 and 5

On the fourth day, this group checked out of the Residence Mariánská in České Budějovice and set out to explore Česká Kanada, specifically the largest hornbeam maze in Central Europe. Míša has family in South Bohemia, so they all visited them together, and from there, it was just a short distance to their accommodation at Veverčí dvůr. On the last day of their visit, they enjoyed a divine breakfast at their accommodation and then continued their journey a bit further… Right next to their lodging is the experiential area "Léto v kukuřici," but the weather wasn't favorable for a visit… hopefully next time! :)

Luci, Tom, Izí, and Tobi are a young, active family who travel around the world year-round. They share their journey through life and interesting places on social media. Tomáš is from Tábor, so their South Bohemian roots are undeniable. However, they also enjoyed exploring other spots in South Bohemia and discovered additional options for spending quality time together. They even extended their stay with us by one day to experience even more adventures. See South Bohemia through the eyes of 2ontheway here.

Day 1

Although the weather wasn’t very favorable for this family, they still had a great time! On the first day, while heading to České Budějovice, they stopped by Hluboká Castle and enjoyed some sports activities at the Sports and Relaxation Center. For rainy days like this one, we recommend visiting the Pat and Mat exhibition, which is currently at the South Bohemian Museum. :)

They had loads of fun at the 3+ Gallery, featuring an interactive exhibition in the old monastery. A walk through the historic streets was also on the agenda. Our tip! Just like 2ontheway, make use of the Český Krumlov Card—one ticket that grants you access to five museums and galleries (Egon Schiele Art Centrum, Klášterní Museum, Castle Museum and Tower, Museum Fotoateliér Seidel, and Regional Museum in Český Krumlov). From there, they continued to the Fairy-Tale Forge in Selibov, an experiential area perfect for families with children in the charming South Bohemian village. On the way back to České Budějovice, they also visited the Lesopark Zátiší and the Vodňany Stork Trail with its giant mushrooms. Day 4

Even the fourth rainy day didn’t deter our travelers… Their outing began at the Crocodile Zoo in Protivín, which features the largest collection of white crocodiles in the world. They then headed to Blatná, where they explored the largest LEGO castle and enjoyed breakfast with the deer in the castle park, despite the rainy weather. After breakfast, they set out to discover the beauty of Šumava, visiting the charming historical town of Prachatice, the Museum of Czech Puppetry and Circus, and had fun at the Forest Adventure Park in Prachatice.

Day 5

On the fifth day, they experienced life as millers! Yes, that's also possible with us! Specifically, at the Hoslovice water mill, where a visit takes you back to bygone times. The authentic depiction of life at the mill includes original agricultural equipment, functional milling machinery, and domestic animals. The whole family tried everything firsthand. How did they like it? You’ll have to see for yourself!

Day 6

On the sixth day, the whole family spent their time at the South Bohemian sea, or Lipno, where fun is guaranteed. A visit to the Tree Top Walkway in Lipno nad Vltavou is a must for everyone who comes here. Right next to it is the Kingdom of the Forest, a paradise especially for the little ones—and their parents too. It’s not just about fun, but also features educational elements that teach children about animal life, for example. From the Tree Top Walkway and the Kingdom of the Forest, you can descend on foot, by cable car, or on a scooter, just like 2ontheway. Don’t miss the nearby toboggan run and the longest lake pier in Central Europe!

Their first stop was the Zadov ski resort, featuring the most original lookout tower. A bit further, they visited the Kvilda Visitor Center with its deer and lynx enclosures, the Owl Aviaries (the largest in the Czech Republic), and ended the day with a short walk to Chalupská slať. They also made sure not to miss a meal at Restaurant Vodník.

Day 4

On the fourth day, we had a program planned for Péťa, Filip, and Miky in the Novohradsk-Doudlebsko tourist region, where the new Archeoskanzen Trocnov is being developed. Péťa found the visit fascinating and amazing for the kids as well. This emerging area, in the birthplace of Jan Žižka, offers a glimpse into the late 14th century with its displays of historical buildings and construction methods. From there, they continued to the Safari Resort in Hluboká near Borovany, where they encountered 25 species of animals, including goats, horses, deer, and exotic species like camels, llamas, and bison. They enjoyed off-road Safari rides in an open vehicle, explored the Safari area, had lunch at the local restaurant Naše farma, and participated in various activities. They visited the Chocolate and Marzipan Museum, had lunch at Bistro Pražská, and made sure to enjoy the renowned ice cream at Moccacafé. As it was a hot summer day, they took advantage of the local Sokolská Plovárna Tábor, where they spent several hours refreshing themselves in the water. Expedition Z101 - Tomáš Vaňourek

Tomáš, a native of Plzeň and a traveler through and through, follows in the footsteps of the legendary explorers Hanzelka and Zikmund, spending much of his time in Africa. However, South Bohemia holds a special place for him, and he regularly visits to capture photographic treasures. As he says, the world is always waiting to be discovered, but Czechia is Czechia. Tomáš immersed himself in the South Bohemian nature and explored our region in the footsteps of the traveling duo. Check out South Bohemia through Tomáš’s eyes here.

Day 1 and 2

On the first day, we accommodated Tomáš at Residence Mariánská, from where he set out to explore České Budějovice. He enjoyed a traditional South Bohemian meal at Restaurace Zvon and even caught a tune on his way back to the accommodation. The next morning, he fueled up with coffee at Espresso Bar, picked up our GoDrive car with a Roofcamping rooftop tent, and set out to conquer the first three peaks of the Novohradské Mountains. Before starting the hike, we recommended refreshing himself with water from the miraculous spring at the Church of Our Lady of Consolation in Dobrá Voda. Would you like to tackle the first three peaks of the Novohradské Mountains too? Here’s how to do it…

The next day, we sent Tomáš towards Česká Kanada. He traveled through Jindřichův Hradec to the largest museum of American cars in the Czech Republic, visited Kaproun (the place where Jára Cimrman was famously thrown off the train), and reached the northernmost point of Austria, located near the Lesní hotel Peršlák. We've prepared the itinerary for a trip through Česká Kanada here.

Teru Menclová

Teru is a photographer, traveler, and Instagrammer from Prague. She has been actively traveling for many years, loving mountains, freedom, nature, and all the beauty around. Her initial cautious trips to various European cities evolved into journeys further afield, including beyond the European continent, often accompanied by her four-legged friend Hosim. Having not explored South Bohemia as much as she would have liked, she returned to the region, this time with her grandmother. Check out South Bohemia through Teru’s eyes here.

Day 1 and 2

We accommodated Teru at Residence Mariánská, from where she immediately took her grandmother to dinner at the Paluba restaurant right across the street. The next morning, all three set off to the Šumava region, specifically to Boubín, where they visited the Boubín lookout tower. Nearby, they explored Boubínské Lake and encountered the Soul Tree, a beautiful memorial dedicated to those who have passed away in forestry. In the Boubín area, just like Teru, you must not miss the educational trail through Soumarské Marsh. On the way back to České Budějovice, they passed through Prachatice, where they enjoyed a meal at Black Bear Burger & Grill and had coffee at Nebe. They had access to a GoDrive shared car for the whole day, which you can rent too! If you want to follow the entire itinerary, you can find it here.

Day 3 and 4

On the third day, the trio explored České Budějovice and its surroundings. They enjoyed a walk through the city center and had lunch at Praži Café. As everyone should see Hluboká Castle, they made sure not to miss it, as well as a stroll around Munický Pond. The next day took them to the romantic ruins of Dívčí Kámen, accessible by a pleasant walk from the parking lot. Their next stop was Mount Kleť, where Teru took the cable car up. At the top, they visited the Kleť Mountain Lodge, the oldest stone lookout tower in South Bohemia, and the highest-positioned sundial in the Czech Republic. They descended either by cable car, on foot, or like Teru - on a scooter, which was quite the ride! You can find the complete itinerary here.

Denisa Vyšňovská

A model and vegan influencer from Bratislava, who actively presents herself on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, she uniquely blends fashion with discovering new places. Since childhood, she dreamed of traveling the world, and now her wish has come true. According to her, it's not about the distance but the magic of the place. Perhaps that's why she gladly accepted an invitation to South Bohemia and checked off another item on her wishlist. See South Bohemia through DeDe’s eyes here.

Day 1 and 2

The journey from Slovakia was long, so on the first day Denisa only managed to check into the Residence Mariánská and dream about her train trip to Bechyně, which awaited her the next morning. She rode on the oldest electrified railway line from 1903, crossing the iconic Duha Bridge on the final stretch of her journey. The day included a walk along the left bank of the river on the Bechyňské Výhledy trail, a visit to Keramika Kabát in Zářečí, Bechyně Castle, the Franciscan Monastery, and the monastery garden. You can find the full program for the day in Bechyně here.

You can, just like Denisa, try Café Datel, Café Háječek, or any other café from our recommendations. After enjoying a soup in a cone from Soupculture.cz, they continued to Blatná, where they were greeted with accommodation at Lázně Blatná, a tasting at a liqueur distillery and brewery, lunch at Pizzerie Casa Verde, and then relaxation with a bath in the spa itself. On the last day, Denisa was looking forward to the program she was most excited about—a walk with alpacas in the park of Blatná Castle. Before that, they had breakfast at Kavárna v podzámčí and stopped for coffee at Oh My Deer Café in the castle before heading back to Slovakia.
