Romantic Streets of Český Krumlov

It’s hard to find a more romantic town than Český Krumlov. You can take leisurely walks through its charming hidden corners, visit museums, or even head to Kleť Mountain with its historic lookout tower.

In the summer, Český Krumlov comes alive with countless concerts and events, including the Festival Krumlov, some of which are free to attend.

We sent Bára and David to explore Port 1560, a unique attraction, and they also enjoyed a romantic ride on a raft along the Vltava River.

Through a Land of Two Faces, Good Waters, and Forgotten Stor

Another Day in the Novohradsko-Doudlebsko Tourist Region: A Land of Soul and Forgotten Stories

Begin your day at the Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of Consolation, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Don't miss the chance to draw "good water" from the miraculous spring flowing near the church.

On your way, make a stop in Hojná Voda and hike up to Kraví Hora (Cow Mountain) with its lookout tower. Along the trail, you’ll encounter unique landmarks like Napoleon’s Head and the Bell of Encounters (Zvon Setkávání).

Near the former customs house at the Nové Hrady-Pyhrabruck border crossing, visit the Open-Air Border Protection Museum, a fascinating look into the history of state border security. You can also enjoy a walk along the Novohradské Border Ponds Trail.

End your day with a stroll along the Terčino Valley Nature Trail, leading to a picturesque waterfall. Finally, stop by the Buquoy Tomb in Nové Hrady, a historic and peaceful spot to reflect on the region’s rich past.

By Boat to Baba Lookout

Did you know you can go on a boat trip without a captain's license?

You can rent a boat at the Sports and Relaxation Area in Hluboká nad Vltavou, and after a short training session, you’re ready to set sail. You’ll navigate through a lock, and in about 30 minutes, you’ll reach the dock where you can disembark and head to the stunning Baba Lookout.

After returning, be sure to spend some time in the area, which offers mini-golf, a ropes course, the Aloha Bar, a restaurant, and many other activities.

Then, head to the fairytale-like Hluboká Castle with its gorgeous park. And to end the day, visit another river—this time the Malše, where you can enjoy a relaxing ride on paddle boats.
