The right to brew beer was granted to the town of Trhové Sviny in 1482 by King Vladislaus II of the Jagiellonian dynasty, and brewing continued here until the 1920s. In line with today’s trends, several microbreweries have been established around the town. The longest-operating one is the Žumberk microbrewery, the youngest is located in Jílovice. The Regent Brewery in Třeboň offers guided tours.
